Thank you for caring, delivering, picking up, supporting.

Compassion is a state of being, a quality of self. It’s not an emotion; there’s no pity or sympathy, or even empathy for another. Hospital workers are the face of compassion right now. Along with other essential workers, they are currently the backbone of our economy. Nurses, doctors, hospital staff, and first responders top the list. Food delivery drivers, sanitation workers, caregivers, and good neighbors are keeping us safe in extraordinary ways. They are showing us the genuine meaning of compassion at work right now in the world. To all the essential workers, thank you for your service!

With a mother five hours away from me, I have to rely on the kindness of others to make sure she has all that she needs. Zoom has become her lifeline for staying connected to her favorite groups and organizations. The generosity of others is helping to keep Mom motivated and engaged.

Many of you know what it’s like to have a parent living in another town, hours away. We have to rely on the goodness of others to keep our older Moms and Dads safe. We have to trust that others nearby have our parent’s best interests at heart. We usually find out that is the case. There is far more compassion in this world than we often realize.

This time of struggle is showing us the level of compassion that often goes unnoticed. In appreciation, we’ve seen cars lined outside of hospitals honking their horns and even playing a musical instrument. Compassion generates gratitude, and the two dance around each other creating inspiration, motivation, and love. Thank you to everyone making life a little easier right now.
